We have been watching the Colnett reports waiting for a decent enough yellow bite to make the journey...Finally last weekend 5 boats score 138 yellows! That was enough to wipe the dust of our gear and hop in the truck....
We flew to Fisherman's in 3 hours...trippy how they are re-doing all the shops, it looked like a freakin' construction zone..Parking was WFO! so we unloaded our gear and ate while we waited to board.
JJ showed up and we loaded. He told us it may be a bit bumpy on the way out, but the weather looked nice for Saturday...
A bit bumpy was an understatement...We rolled around all night. I finally got out of bed and we still had an hour to go ..ugh!!
I tied on a scrambled egg Salas 6X on my 6470 with a JX 2-speed, and a blue/White on Calstar 700M and both were spooled with 40, Izorline XXX of course!!
Finally the engines back off and everyone grabs their gear...I sink to the bottom and wind with all my heart...Nada..Again, again, again, then...
SLAM!!!

I get stopped dead, the fish makes a run and I throw my reel into low and wound that forkie all the way to the boat...My fish is the first to hit the deck...
Fred got short-bit, drops again and gets ripped again...This fish stuck for second and then let go... As fast as it started it was over...10 fish died between 12-22 pounds.
We tried for a bit longer but no love...we split as soon as the Humbolts started eating the jigs...
Off to the deeper water for some bottom critters....Fishing was really tough and we definetly had to work to fill the sacks..We managed a few nice Reds, lots of big Whitefish, and I even ended the day with a Ling.
Rain came down on us for a half hour and then it was gone...Some whales got close and gave us a show which is always cool to see...
Zoomed in.....
As the sun set we sat down to eat...Bomb a$$ meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and veggies, not to mention one of the best chinese chicken salads I've ever had...
Ride home was awesome...Smooth as a babies butt...Pulled up to the dock at 6am and we were home by 930am!!!
Very Special thanks to JJ, Tyler, Matt, Jessica and Nick in the Galley for a great trip. The Apollo rocks!
