News from GCLA Sitka

Well today was cold and wet and bumpy.
The fishing was slow by Alaska standards, however our captains still managed to put us on limits of King Salmon and Halibut. Barb helped out with the overall weight by catching a 65 lb halibut on a jig. They measure the halibut in inches and have a chart that tells them what it will weigh - this one is 53 inches. Here is Pat with a nice King she had to reel in twice. He got close to the boat and then dove another 80 feet.

So far we have gotten limits for the group each day of King Salmon-one per day each , Halibut- one per day each and are nearing limits on yellow eye-2 per year. Susan is the only one to catch a keeper Ling, we also have a few black bass.
We ave heard that tomorrow is forecast includes more rain and who knows what else.
The largest halibuts are the 2 @65 lbs, the rest are what they call "chickens".
I will post more pix when I get home when I have a stronger internet connection.
Having a wonderful, exhausting, seasick, bedtime stories, overeating, going gaga over all the eagles- time.
