Check out the injury to this fish...Looks like it was either caught in a net or it escaped being someones meal.....It did not escape me....
Here are a few more from the Charter on the Mirage Saturday...........Sacks were stacked fat as usual....Don't bother trying to escape....You've been sacked by a GOLD COAST LADY ANGLER!
Well I went out on a 1/2 day trip with Jason Diamond, the Stardust. We went looking for calico bass and several were caught. I missed the class on that subject and could have used the info.
I did catch a White Sea Bass as a school of them appeared and several were caught unfortunately they were all short. But I have proof. Here is a photo of the little guy before I sent him back to grow up!!!!

Hey there fellow Lady Anglers, As I soaked up some sunshine camping at Lake Lopez this weekend, my best friend Mary was chomping at the bit for her first Seabass of the year!!!Weather caused an overnight charter to our local Islands to cancel so off she went in search of the Mighty Croaker...She landed on the deck of the Liberty, same boat that produced my Seabass last weekend. Bound and determined, she fished hard all day and landed this trophy fish!!!!!Way to go LADY!!!! Way to keep representing!!!(Notice her Gold Coast Lady Angler Visor!!!)

Hey there ladies....I just wanted to share some info on a new boat that Mary and I fished on this weekend for my Birthday! It was the LIBERTY out of City of Long Beach, Berth 55....What an AWESOME crew and Boat....It's an 85x26 foot vessell with 32 bunks and an huge sundeck...Fishing was a bit slow due to weird conditions and wind, but PROPS to the only two girls on the boat...Mary caught an awesome Angel Shark (Excellent Table Fare!) which was a new one for the deck-hands to clean as Angel sharks are not caught often at Catalina...And I managed to catch the only White Seabass of the day...JACKPOT BABY!!!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME......The girls showed them how it is done and we sure represented!!!!
For those of you that want to explore other places and other boats, I fish as often as possible and am always up for a new adventure...Let's go fishin'.....
On Friday, May 30, Jeannie, Karen and I went on a 3/4 day fishing trip on the Stardust with Capt Jason Diamond. We left Santa Barbara harbor at 7am and drove out to the Dome- 12 mile reef, about a 45 minute ride and started fishing for rock fish. Very early on Karen pulled up a great Red and it weighed out to 8 lbs, I caught a couple of nice sized Boccaciao, Karen was right in there pulling up nice rock fish. The boat was carrying about 30 anglers, part of the croup was a bachelor party, we noticed many folks were wearing day licences- so they were either visitors or visiting. The wind was pretty stiff and the Captain was trying to keep everyone comfortable, which is why we did not go out to Santa Rosa, luckily there wasn't a big swell too. Karen and Jeannie and I were impressed with the cleanliness of the boat and how comfortable it is, lots of seating and a sun deck on top. Plenty of places to be in the sun, out of the wind and just to sit. Jason's style of maneuvering the boat while fishing, allowed for great fishing on all sides of the vessel- even with 30 people I did not feel crowded. We all 3 limited out, as did the boat and were back at the dock in SB at 3:30. Our parking ticket was validated and our fee was 3.00 dollars for the day. Our overall feeling is that this is a very comfortable boat with great Captain & Crew, the short drive to fishing areas makes the time fishing similar to that of the Sea Jay without the long drive time.
To top it all off, Karen won the Jackpot, as well as impressing a lot of guys who wanted to know what we were doing.
I may be going out with the Stardust again in the near future just to try some other spots - it is closer for me. Anyone interested in getting in a little trip between our big ones, just let me know.
If you're looking to add or replace gear or re-stock your tackle box, you may find it here at Art's Fish & Tackle. Of course you would have to come to Gardena to do it. It might be worth the drive if you have nothng better to do. Terry owns Art's and has been a big supporter of many of the South Bay Lady Angler's events, particularly the Alondra Park Annual (10th year just celebrated) Kids Fishing Event that Kathy W. coordinates.
If you're in the city, give me or Kathy a call. We just might be available for a drink or two.
This is the second time Gita's caught the Jackpot winner. Can she make it a threepeat? She'll be featured on our Home Page until we find out in June on our next Charter.
Hmmm...which one of the 3 Sheephead I caught is the biggest?
Miryam asked me to post these two pictures of her and new GCLA member, daughter Jacquelyn, from the Mother's Day Gentleman Charter last Sunday. Thanks for sharing, Miryam!
New member, Jacquelyn catches, uh, something :)
Miryam and Jacquelyn represent the 2nd GCLA Mother/Daughter team
I am part of the Carpinteria Studio Artists and we are having our annual Open Studio Tour on :
Saturday May 10 from 10am to 5pm.
I just wanted you all to know you are welcome to visit and pick up a map to the other 34 artists on this years tour. It is free- your fuel is the only major expense. It is a rare opportunity to see into the lives and work of a lot of artists in this area.
I'd like to share this picture my client and new friend took of her dog enjoying her brand new life in Ventura. This is Katie's first attempt at surfing. Or, perhaps she is fishing? Regardless, having just moved from Colorado, it doesn't look like she misses the snow too much.
Thanks to Kit for reminding me that we live in paradise and thanks to all you GCLA for showing me how to make the most of it.
