Great Event on Dec. 8th!

Join Top Shot, Battray, and other GCLAs or just donate. More info here.

MEMO . . .

In these times of economic uncertainty and layoffs (and the holidays approaching), members of Ventura County Sportfishing Club (VCSC) have come up with a novel idea to help those families that are less fortunate. VCSC, in conjunction with Captain Hooks Sportfishing, Hueneme Fish Processors and the captains of the boats at the landing, are sponsoring a Fish4Food Day on December 08. All fish caught will be flash frozen and given to FoodShare, a food bank in Ventura County and they will handle distribution.

Cost of this venture is 25.00 per person to cover fuel costs. There will be "Pros" on board for those of you (or your friends) that need a little advice or help. Tackle can be rented at the landing and there will be some available on-board (please let us know your needs). VCSC will be giving away and Avet reel and as of press time, we are waiting to hear about some other possible incentives. And if you cannot make it, consider donating 25.00 so some other less fortunate but willing angler can participate.

Please call Captain Hook's (805.3826233) to make your reservation or to donate. It will be the best 25.00 you have spent this year. Do not wait...do it now....please.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please call Jerry Stussman (818.8658310)

MEMO

This things is really coming together! None of the structure is cast-in-concrete but here's what's happening so far:
1. 280 fisherman
Yep, the Captains/owners Island Spirit, Aloha Spirit, Speed Twin, New Bluefin, Seabiscuit, Black Pearl and two six-pak boats all have voluntered their boats @$25 per person. This is about the fuel/insurance cost! Promote this thing by bringing family, kids, friends, coworkers, post it at your work, in your church/club, etc.
2. Fish cleaning-
Only crew members can filet fish. Each boat will have a tip jar. Be as generous as you can.
3. Departure/Arrival
Arrive at Capt Hooks by 5:30 a.m. Coast Guard regs REQUIRE that boats have a manifest. Each captain will select his fishing ground/type of fishing, from exotics to sandabs!
The plan (so far) Everybody will be given a number on sign-in and we anticipate returning to the Capt Hooks by 4p.m. A drawing will be held in the parking lot for the Avet Reel: then it's tailgate party-time. Anybody wanting to organize it or a subparty?
4. Fishing
Capt Hooks has rent rods and tackle; some of the Pros and semi-pros wil have extra rods.
