Sea Biscuit

YOU GUYS ROCK !!! Those fish are freakin' awesome. You make us proud - when's dinner??????????????

Bluefin on the Biscuit!!!!!

Fred and I did a 2-day aboard the Sea Biscuit out of Channel Islands Sportfishing.

Lady Anglers on board include myself, Ana, and Louise...

It was originally going to be a Cortez Bank trip for day one and Island freelance on day two....Albacore tempted us to go north, but weather kept us veering south...Not many reports as of late with the Yellowfin in such abundance down south, but we decided to stick with the original plan and head to the Cortez/Tanner.We arrived a bit after day break and had high hopes as we metered some fish and the hand wells were full of live squid....We soaked a few and what felt like a blue perch bite resulted in this....

.....Current slacks off to none and we decide to head off-shore for a few hours searching for tuna while conditions improve on the bank.Trolling resulted in a double jig strike of Skipjack....not the right kind, but hell, it looked like we might be in the right area!!!! Couple of jig strikes later and we get a Bluefin, correction multiple bluefin....we chummed like mo-fo's and plucked a few baitfish off the stop...What a rush...I didn't get one, but guess who did....

Fred keeps the glory in the family landing this Bluefin that would steal the JP by mere ounces...

We tryed for a bit longer with no luck and took a group vote to head back to the bank...Conditions still sucked so we ate a tasty dinner of Terriyaki Chicken, rice and corn, rolld and salad. Ate the yummiest dessert ever and hit the sack with a full belly and a few glory fish in the sacs...

Over night we travel to San Nicholas Island to stuff the sacs....First stone we hit is WFO!!! Quality and quantity with Lings and Reds of this caliber...

Jose nails this fatty for JP day two....

No shortage of fish day two, that was for sure...sacks were so full you could harly reach the bait tank...

Great trip on the Sea Biscuit...I think this boat is so severely under-rated...Excellent crew, good food and a really comfortable boat to fish. Special thanks to Bobby and Fred, our gracious captn's, Matt, Mike and Chad on deck, and of course, Howie in the Galley...

GCLA TUNA SLAYFEST:

For any of you ladies who stayed home- this was NOT the trip to miss-
As for lucky us- we'll be feasting on ahi and other primo fish for a long time to come!!!
Freezer full paradise!
Miryam- ok, The Divine Miss M- I surely feel like that now.

PACIFIC DAWN TUNA CHARTER

I do not even have the words to describe one of the most magnificent GCLA trips that we have ever experienced. Thanks to the great coaching by Erika and Fred, everybody came home with limits of yellowfin tuna. Per the skipper, here are the numbers: 2 albacore, 14 dorado, 21 yellowtail and a whopping 181 yellowfin tuna - all caught by 17 of us on board. Friday, our first day, was a little slow, but all hell broke loose on Saturday. We had about a 4 hour fishing frenzy when all you could hear was - "comin' under, comin' over, step to the right, step to the left". It was the fishy dance to say the least. The decks were covered with blood and the tuna were coming on board, one right after another. You could actually see the fish swimming right around the boat - all you had to do was drop your line in the water and you got bit instantly. It was a fishing "high" I hope I will experience again and again. The water, the wind, the sun - all the conditions were absolutely perfect for this fabulous trip. The crew was phenomenal, the food was great, and of course, there is nothing like the Pac Dawn bunks. This trip far exceeded my wildest expectations. Divine put it best - "it's going to be very hard to jump off of cloud nine". Even on our way in on Saturday, Jordan and Moses, two of the deckhands ended the trip with a spectacular trolling show. They each grabbed a trolling rod and landed two nice Dorado's. We were in awe and clapped and cheered to the very end. This trip will live on and on in the record books of GCLA. Below are just some of the pics - enjoy. Come on Ladies - let's get more pics up here. And by the way, I talked with Pat as we were getting off the boat and we have it again next year.

And the end to a glorious trip with the Mexican shore line in the backround.

A FISHY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU CHRIS!

WISHING YOU A WONDERFUL DAY!
