FISHING WITH OUR DAD!
March 31, 2010, there are a few of us booked to go out for a two day trip on the beautiful Ranger 85, out of Channel Islands Harbor. Anneye is going with her Father and she is looking for other members to go out on the two day, perhaps with their Mom or Dad. The cost is $300.00 for the Two Days and it includes meals and snacks. I think it also includes drinks. It is a limited load 30. It is an open charter. Call the Ranger to make your reservations.

RANGER 85 HOLIDAY CHARTER
Wow, it's taken me a couple of days to recover, but what a awesome way to end our 2009 GCLA fishing season. The Ranger 85 is a fabulous boat and Captain Frank and his crew were just awesome. Everyone was so excited to go, we actually departed earlier than scheduled. So, once we were off, the party was on. As usual, we had more than enough to eat. There was ham, turkey, quiche, veggies, fruit, lots of yummy salads, chili, cheeses, crackers, nuts, pies, brownies, cookies, and of course, the infamous "cake balls" aka truffle cakes. The list goes on and on - no one went hungry - that's for sure.
With San Nicholas as our destination, it was a long ride, but we slept confortably in our bunks. Everyone started to surface around 5am - so hence the fishing began. It was very chilly so we had to bundle up.
Despite the weather conditions, the fishing was great. Lots of reds were caught,
but sheephead seemed to be the catch of the day.
We have to give Team McIntyre kudos as Barb and Biff each won the respective jackpots with Sheepheads !! Unbelievable !!
Then it was time to get warm, so we headed back into the galley to start our "fishy" gift exchange. Once again, the gifts were very creative and the combat was amusing.
Of course, we can't forget our usual "bootie" shot - - it's not a charter without our "bootie" shot.
I could just go on and on about this trip as there were so many special moments, but it's just so amazing how much fun it is to get together like this and rock the boat the way we did. 2009 was an awesome year for the GOLD COAST LADY ANGLERS and 2010 is going to be even better.
GCLA ROCKS !!!!

More November 8th Aloha Spirit
Hi everyone...now that we've had our holiday party, I thought I'd go back to this post and see if I can finish it. What a great year of learning to fish with you!! Here were my thoughts in November:
I almost don't want to go back out too soon, because yesterday put a smile on my face that will last me through the week at least. What a gift to be out on the beautiful blue seas with all of you and on the Aloha Spirit. I felt like I was surfing along the waters as we cruised here and there. I SO enjoyed the day! Here are more pics from my camera. (Couldn't upload any photos...so I stopped writing...here's another try.)
Jake hoping for white sea bass...not today.
Sunset...what a gorgeous day that was! We live for November in California.
Anne and Vita after showing off tatoos.
Susan and daughter in the EARLY hours.Sandra ... hoping for fish.
Barbara and son Jake...soon to win the jackpot of the day.
Jeanne and Greg breakfast burrito.
The big reds!
Chris' big red.
Mary
I finally had luck...after losing all the tackle and line a few times. Thanks Shawn!
Look, it's the Pac Dawn off to our left. I loved seeing them! What a gorgeous sunrise and spectacular glassy day on the water.
I just saw the photos printed in WON last week...fun to see my picture included.
and it was only topped by the great fishing in December. I didn't mind the cold...the fish were biting!!
This is why we get hooked on fishing so fast.

Aloha Spirit Charter on 11/8
As the 2009 fishing season is winding down, Sunday's trip on the Aloha Spirit will go in the GCLA record books for huge red snappers. The sacks were bulging with these lovely specimans.
They were so big and beautiful, I just had to hold one up to the "Fishing Gods" to thank them for our bounty.
We actually started out on the hunt for white seabass, but they "spooked" us once again. They don't get the nickname of "GHOST" for nothing. There were a bunch of boats around us as well and a few lucky anglers were able to bring one on board, but it wasn't in the cards for us, so we took off for the "outer limits". As the morning progressed, we hit on some nice lings. About 9 beauties hit the bags and then we saw "RED" and lots of them. One right after another, along with some chilies, boscos, chuckleheads, and other rock fish. The weather was just perfect too - sunny and warm, and the water was flat. Just a great day to be fishing.
Many kudo's to Captain Shawn and crew - Jerry, Josh, and Kelly. They always ROCK !!! As you can see from these pics - we all got limits and came home with very happy sacks.
And of course, many congrats to Barb for winning the jackpot with this fabulous fish.
You can't beat spending the day with all your friends and fellow anglers, having a great time, enjoying the weather, and best of all - catching quality fish like this. It just doesn't get any better !!
