I know all of you who have recently been to Alaska and San Diego, this is not as big an expedition as those, but it is a really comfortable boat and with a great crew and a chance for many of us to be together going fishing in new grounds and have a great time.

I live approximately 15 minuets from the harbor and will gladly host a sleep-over at my house, (bring sleeping bags)

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Not only did we celebrate Kristin's 30 lb Halibut on the SeaJay yesterday, but we also had cake and champagne to celebrate the Divine Miss M's birthday. As you can tell from the birthday candle, we're not getting older, just getting BETTER !! All in all, it was a great day of fun, sun, and KICKIN' BASS - calico bass that is and lots of them.

Jackpot for Kristin!

Kristin showed us how to do it yesterday on Miryam's Birthday Charter on the Sea Jay. She will remain on our homepage until the Jackpot winner from the October Charter takes her place.

Congratulations Kristin!!

Slight Correction on Size of the Halibut

Hi All,

You know the way fisherpeople tend to embellish on the size of their fish.....lol.
Slight correction on the size of the halibut I caught.
It was 6 feet 7 inches, not 7 feet 7 inches . Patty G. caught the error. At
7' 7", the fish would have weighed over 400 lbs.

J

SITKA, AK 2008

Hi All,

Back from fishing in Sitka, a magical place that I can never tire of.
I think I put on a couple of lbs. from all the wonderful appetizers and
delicious food that Kingfisher Lodge prepared for us. As usual,
Kathy Walker did a great job organizing the trip, accomodating our many requests and making the "newbies" feel comfortable from day one.

For me, the trip was extra special. On our second day of fishing I happened to mention to our boat captain Brian that it would be so exciting to land a "triple digit halibut" this year. Little did I know 7 hours later later I would land a gigantic monster of a fish. Would you believe 7 feet 7 inches and weighing approximately 265 lbs? About an hour after my catch, Miryam caught a 235 lb. halibut.

Just incredible!

Birthday Bass

Hi Y'all,

After a long weekend of selling Art from my studio(SB Studio Artists Tours) and answering many, many questions. I decided to treat myself for my Birthday to a trip on the Mirage - as I have told Jeanne, it is escapism at it's best!.
Never a bad choice!
Tucker was our trusty Captain with Louie as his second. Ryan & Miguel & the Pineapple were great as usual. Once agian, I was the only female on board with 22 of my new best guy friends.

Things started out with jigging for squid at about 4 am and there were a lot. We started fishing about 5:30 and there was a hook up within 20 min. There were only 8 sea bass caught and a number of bonito (one very large)- , 1 great halibut (by california standards), 1 bat ray- the morning was kinda slow, I kept expecting them to just start hitting, but in the end, I was one of the lucky ones and mine was about 20 lbs, not the smallest, not the biggest - and I have the stones too.

Then we went and limited out on reds and went looking for Whitefish.

Toward the end of the day,I was actually complimented on my skill and one fella told me it was quite impressive.

Another fellow said" Look at this Lady Angler Go! when I pulled my rode through a tangled line to unhook us and continued to reel up a nice whitefish.

All this was on the front side of Santa Rosa up at the far end toward Miguel.

I forgot my camera, so the photo I have is courtesy of Chef Pineapple and the Crew.

Thanks Guys for a great Birthday Trip!!!!!!!

Alaskan adventure

Well, I am back..... I do not know how to deescribe the sense of beauty, and adventure that was lucky to be a part of....they say a picture speaks volumes (or some old cliche like that). It was well worth getting there ahead of the group so I could get to see the town of Sitka, and do some hiking..... Yes, on day 4, I finally bacame a member of the 100lb club, with a 127.5lb halibut. check out those beautiful Alaskan sunrises....yes, sun..I even wore sunglasses on some of the days....and we were truly blessed on day one to see some orcas, which swam right underneath our boat!!!!! And yes, I even saw some brown bears!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Barbara!

Hope all your fish wishes come true.

Alaska, Day 4, Two Fish On

GCLAs, Susan and Miryam, reel in one beautiful Coho salmon as Carlton reels in another. CJ, the captain in the orange, has the net.

Susan to Miryam: "If you go overboard, I am not going in after you. I'll use the gaff, though."
