12/28 Speed Twin

Biff & I went out on the Speed Twin today, just hoping to catch some fish and have fun on the water. We did not expect to come across a pod of ORCA about 3 juveniles a large female & a calf. The capt followed them for a few minuets and I tried to get photos.

There were not enough anglers to really take the boat out but the capt took us anyway - the crew wanted to go fishing so we just went to the west end of Anacapa and did some rock fishing and turned for home abut 12 noon.
We caught a lot of Starry rock fish and a few Barber poles. Biff limited plus, but I only got 2.
But it was nice out there and I don't think there were more than 15 on the boat total. Biff & I were given rain checks to go back out again. Seeing Orca in our channel - so cool!

Gold Coast Holiday Charter

We had a full day charter (5am-5pm) for our Holiday Trip aboard the Speed Twin out of Captain Hooks Sportfishing. 33 Ladies and a couple significant others came along for the adventure....We loaded the boat with 40 pounds of frozen squid jugged the tanks with some beautiful dines and took off for the West End of Santa Cruz Island which took just under 2 hours.

The Galley was full of gifts, food, fun, and fishing woman!!!Does it really get any better???

And in the words of our fearless leader....Jeanne has the best balls in all of Ventura County!

The ride over was gorgeous...Flat grease conditions and a gorgeous sunrise. We got rigged up and started the day with some breakfast....

Fishing was PHENOMENAL!!! Shallow water rock fished in about 90 feet for most of the day and apparently we were sitting on Goat Land because the Sheephead were coming over the rail like crazy...I landed 8 myself fishing them the way I have the best results...Reverse dropper loop with a 2 foot leader....Light wire #2 Owner Circle hooks (These guys straightened a few of them) Anyway...The variety was awesome...Bonito, Whitefish, Sheephead, Sculpin, Reds, Chucks, even a TOAD Cab, and then the mix of junk...Tree fish, Gopher cod, Blue bass, perch and 2 Sarcastic Fringeheads...Mean little suckers!

So in case you didn't know, my thing is kissing my fish...Why not? They provide me with so much satisfaction...Anyway so I started my Fish porn off with one of my fist big goats.

These guys were so loaded with sea lice and crap, It was a good thing that the beers were plentiful.....Otherwise I might have passed...Fish Counts were as follows:

Speed Twin-3/4 Day-31 Anglers:
5 Sculpin, 72 Sheephead, 81 Whitefish, 2 Bonito, 10 Vermilion Rockfish, 300 Rockfish

We just killed the Goats.. Here are a couple of pics of some bigger ones.

This one includes the JP fish on the left....Easily Identified! WTG Patty!!!!

The crew was cryin' over all the Goats they were going to have to clean so we decided to move into some deeper water for the last hour for some Reds and Chucks action....I landed a couple decent ones along with a Red not worthy of a photo...

Skipper called it and we gathered on the bow for a group shot of the Ladies.

A few more fish pics with my girls before they hit the board...I am not the only one who digs the fish porn...

I may be demented, but I think this shot is SO RAD!!!!

And Finally my Trademark shot....

My Sac hit the board first.

Like I said...I caught quite a few Sheephead.

Had to disperse a few into other bags to keep me legal.

We stared home with the sun setting behind us....What a Bitchen' day

Ok...The gift exchange...Every one puts their gifts on the table and we draw numbers...you pic one or steal someone elses....The one I selected had a vacuum sealer and a pair of Slippers made from Maxi Pads!

Awesome day so we did a few shooters on the way in to celebrate!!!

So that's it...Hope you enjoyed the read and pics...See ya' on the rail!

Here are some fun pics......
